Aldar Khalil: there are some positive signs in the attitude of the Syrian regime… .. Can the Syrian government and the Autonomous Administration agree?

Ugarit Post- As Turkey continues to seek to implement its military operations in northern Syria, in preparation for the establishment of what it calls a "safe zone" with the aim of "returning one and a half million Syrian refugees to it," a senior Kurdish official considered; The statements issued by the Syrian government regarding the recent Turkish threats are "positive"

Multiple rounds of negotiation .. What do the two parties want from each other?

Media reports and officials in the Syrian government and the Autonomous Administration have always talked about rounds of dialogue and negotiations between the two parties to resolve bilateral differences, but without making any progress or any agreement, except for a “military understanding” between the military leaders From both sides, after the “Turkish invasion” of northern and eastern Syria in October 2019, which led to the deployment of military units of government forces along the border with Turkey.

The “Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria” seeks to be recognized by Damascus as a legitimate political entity in northern Syria, and this does not mean that it seeks to secede from the country (according to its officials’ statements), and confirms that it is an integral part of the country, and that it is ready for dialogue with the government and all parties, and this This was confirmed by dozens of statements issued by it, as well as through statements by administration officials and the Syrian Democratic Council to the “Ugarit Post” news network.

The Syrian government, in turn, continues to reject what the Autonomous Administration wants, and says that it is against the existence of “self-rule” and other military forces in the country, in addition to rejecting what it describes as “attempts to create a new reality, autonomy or separation”, and that it is working to return the entire Syrian territory. to state control. . Thus, the outstanding problems and differences between Damascus and Qamishli can be summarized.

“Positive Attitudes” .. It is the duty of the military institution to protect the security of the homeland

With Turkey repeating its threats to northern Syria, and its announcement of the imminent launch of a military operation there, similar to what happened in Afrin, Ras al-Ain and Tal Abyad, the Syrian government issued statements condemning Turkish endeavors and threats to Syria, and Damascus considered what Turkey intends to do in the north is considered colonialism, Occupation, ethnic cleansing and demographic change and stressed resistance and the fight against it.

These statements, despite their delay, were considered “positive” by a senior Kurdish official, although the Syrian government, when the Turkish forces took control of Afrin, Ras al-Ain and Tal Abyad, in turn issued statements condemning this, but this time “there is a difference” according to what he sees PYD co-presidency Council member Aldar Khalil.

Khalil said in media statements, that “there are some positive indicators in the position of the Syrian government this time,” noting that Damascus’s position in the past was somewhat shy, but “this time they have a position against the occupation.” He said that it is the duty of the Syrian military institution to protect the country’s borders, noting that it has begun dialogue and finding solutions, and this work is continuing.

The Kurdish official added that there is hope that major steps will be taken in this direction (dialogue), stressing that what Syria as a whole and the northeastern region is going through is a “sensitive stage and not as it was before.” He added, “Some positive steps will be taken to make the dialogue a success.” He added that they will not wait for the Syrian government to defend them.

A “PYD co-presidency Council member” called on the Syrian government to take a clearer stance against the Turkish state, stressing that it relies on its military forces and  the society and people in the north-east.
